The Everly Set: A Celebration of The Everly Brothers

7:30 to 9:30PM | Arts Center at Iowa Western · Council Bluffs

In 1957, teens Phil and Don Everly supercharged the vocal sound of Rock ’n’ Roll with Bye Bye Love and Wake Up Little Susie, unleashing the sparkling vocal harmonies that would influence The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, The Beach Boys, The Hollies, The Eagles, the Bee Gees, and Peter, Paul and Mary. Now, six decades later, two acclaimed singer-songwriters with a mind-bending three-decade age difference combine millennial pluck with baby-boomer sass to present The Everly Set: A Celebration of The Everly Brothers. This walk down memory lane features Bye Bye Love, Wake Up Little Susie, Cathy’s Clown, All I Have To Do Is Dream, When Will I Be Loved, Crying In The Rain, Love Hurts, Bird Dog, Claudette, Walk Right Back, and more hits and rarities in concert. Sean Altman (Rockapella founder, Carmen Sandiego theme song composer), 20-something ex-teen idol Jack Skuller (Disney recording artist, Songwriters Hall of Fame “Holly Prize”) and their band bring you this night of musical nostalgia.

Classic Albums Live- Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon

7:30 to 9:30PM | Arts Center at Iowa Western · Council Bluffs

Founded in 2003 by Craig Martin, Classic Albums Live takes the greatest albums and recreates them live on stage - note for note, cut for cut, using the best musicians. “Think of it as a recital,” says Martin, “these albums are historic and stand the test of time.” Forgoing costumes and impersonations, Classic Albums Live concentrates solely on the music. “We don’t dress up or wear any sort of costume. We just stand there and play. All of our energy is put into the music. We want the performance to sound exactly like the album,” says Martin. It’s the symphony of our time. Dark Side of the Moon came out in 1973 and achieved over 20 million album sales. At the time of its release, it had massive cultural appeal. School students took to drawing the album art on school binders, and people started paying attention to the sound of cash register bells. Classic Albums Live knows how to perform this album with all of its complexities and soul. It’s a masterpiece that will be remembered forever.

L.A. Theatre Works presents "Lucy Loves Desi: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Sitcom"

7:30 to 9:30PM | Arts Center at Iowa Western · Council Bluffs

Lucy Loves Desi: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Sitcom is the hilarious and true story behind one of America’s most beloved TV comedies. Lucille Ball paved the way for many of today’s top comediennes, while forcing Hollywood to begin dealing with the rising power and influence of women artists, both on-screen and behind the scenes. Playwright Gregg Oppenheimer – son of I Love Lucy creator Jess Oppenheimer – spins this witty, fast-paced tale of Lucy and Desi’s battles with CBS over the pioneering ideas that changed the face of television forever. From casting her real-life husband, Cuban-born Desi Arnaz, to insisting that the show be filmed in Hollywood, where she wanted to raise her family, to incorporating her real-life pregnancy into the show, Lucy left her impression on the television industry. L.A. Theatre Works (LATW) has been the foremost radio theater company in the United States for four decades.
