Mini Seed School is for farmers and gardeners wanting to learn the basics of seed saving and seed stewardship in a lightning format. This is a condensed version of a weekend-long Seed School facilitated by Alex O’Hanlon and Cait Caughey. Topics will include seed history, importance, planning for seed saving, isolation techniques, seed processing, and storage. We will also share information on ongoing community projects such as a seed cooperative, seed shares, and more. Seed saving is an important practice for climate change resiliency, maintaining biodiversity, and building a thriving local food system.

These workshops will have both classroom and hands-on components and you will leave with an idea on how to plan for seed saving and properly save a few species next growing season. We will also have seeds to share. Registration is required for each workshop and you are welcome to attend one or both. We are asking all participants to wear masks during the workshops. The second workshop will be held on Tuesday,  February 8th from 6-8 pm.
